Pages DIY Ltd. is a well known Port Talbot family business currently run by company director Jeffrey Page and today located at Talbot Road. The business was established in 1918 by Jeffrey's grandfather just after the Great War in a small building at the rear of the family home in Grove Place (can be seen in the aerial photo) trading as a carpentry and joinery business under the name of G. H. Page and Son. It was here that the groundwork was done to establish a successful family business. Jeffrey's father George, joined the business as a craftsman supplying many of the old established businesses in Port Talbot as well as the private sector with purpose made joinery.
In 1960 George and his wife Dyllis opened a D.I.Y. shop known as Page's Home Supplies (pictured behind blue car). It was here that the successful family business with a personal service built up its reputation supplying not only local firms but businesses and the public all along the welsh end of the M4 corridor. It was as Page's Home Supplies that the business diverted away from carpentry and joinery and became a fore runner in D.I.Y.
Jeffrey joined the business in 1972 after successfully completing his carpentry and joinery apprenticeship and worked alongside his parents until the untimely death of his father in 1980.
The business continued to expand and in 1986 Page's Home Supplies became Page's D.I.Y. The continuing growth of the business meant that in 1990 it moved from Grove Place where it all began to much larger premises at Talbot Road (pictured below) enabling us to continue to supply all the needs of builder and handyman alike. MRS. DYLLIS PAGE 1920-2014
It is with sadness we wish to report the news that Mrs. Dyllis Page passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Thursday 12th June 2014 following a short illness.
Mrs. Page joined the business maintaining the books for her husband George's carpentry and joinery company. Together Dyllis and George opened our very first shop in 1960 Pages Home Supplies in Grove Place, Port Talbot diverting the business away from the traditional carpentry and joinery business originally founded in 1918.
Page's Home Supplies became a fore runner in D.I.Y. with a name change in the 80s to Pages DIY to reflect that. Over the last few years Mrs. Page helped out in our office once a week right up to her 94th birthday.
